Garage Sales, Berries and Sand Sculptures
Nike and I got a few more baby items at some early morning Saturday garage sales, After that, we headed to another U-Pick farm outside the city for berries. Our main goal was a pound of red currants for a German currant cake that Nike loves. It is a lot of work to pick a pound of currants! They are small and delicate. We also picked some nice raspberries and blueberries. Picking is sometimes hard work, but the berries are great and super cheap.
After the berry picking we headed downtown for a sand sculpture exhibit in Pioneer Square in the very center of downtown Portland. They did a good job on the sculptures, but I think a little more inventiveness would have been nice. They looked a little too professional for me. After hitting the Rogue brewery for a couple of beers for me, we headed home.
Today Nike made a fantastic German currant cake. All that hard work picking berries really paid off thanks to Nike's baking skills.
