Arboretum

Today, we checked out the Hoyt Arboretum. I didn't rain but the trails were really muddy. It's a beautiful park covering 187 acres with over 8000 specimen. At first, we tried to follow the 2-mile loop recommended in one of the pamphlets available at the visitors center. Despite the map, we soon got lost and decided to explore the park in a more organic fashion. We really enjoyed the Fir and Spruce Trails, which felt like a trip across the world with pines, furs etc. from Europe, Asia and North America.
After our walk, we had a late lunch. Again, we had to change our plans because the brew pub we had picked was closed for an employee holiday party (which holiday, MLK?). So we went back to Blossoming Lotus, a vegan cafe in a yoga center. We ordered a peanut noodle bowl and a sandwich with avocado and smoked maple tempeh, which was heavenly!
Now we're back home and we already gave Haley a bath to get all that mud off her.
