Austin

The ever-changing skyline of Austin Texas

Nike and I spent a long weekend in Austin in order to attend my niece Susan's High School Graduation. It was a great weekend with extended relatives and friends from around the country relaxing, talking, and eating good food at Susan's parents' (Bob & Sally) house. The graduating class at Cedar Park H.S. was about 600 so the big event was held at the basketball coliseum on the U-Texas campus. The valedictorian had a 5.51 GPA: how does that work?? I guess there is no use in bragging about my GPA anymore.

In addition to the graduation, we also took in some great Austin food and scenery: Fish Tacos at both the Hula Hut and Guero's Taco Bar, a nice (hot) stroll around Town Lake (now renamed Lady Bird Lake), watching the bats fly out from underneath the Congress Street Bridge (now renamed the Ann Richards Congress Street Bridge), and a good beer at the Gingerman (now relocated from 4th St to 3rd St due to high-end condo construction).

Just like friends and relatives, cities keep changing as the years go by, but the things you love about them are always there in some form or other. Enjoy some pictures!

Home of the best Fish Tacos in the World!!

The UT Clock Tower was closed - so no tour for us.

Nike found these T-shirts for us.
You need to have lived in Texas a while to really get the humor.
