The weather has been gorgeous here, which really makes me happy! But I was dismayed to hear from a colleague that bad weather often returns in June, with a special weather pattern to blame. Today is the first day of June so I'm bracing myself - enjoy it while it lasts.
On Saturday, Dave and I celebrated his birthday. His birthday was on Tuesday already but I had to teach and we had our first parenting/birthing class that night. So to make up for it, we went to the Bridgeport Brew Pub and the experience was fabulous all around: sitting outside in the sunshine, enjoying great food and good beer (Dave, not me). I had the veggie burger w/ smoked cheddar, BBQ sauce and onion rings (homemade pattie with a nice crunch on the outside) and Dave had the fish and chips (very crispy batter, tender filet). I'm sure we'll be back.
I have one more week of classes to go ... I'm definitely ready for classes to be over. On Friday morning, we leave for Austin to attend the high school graduation of Dave's niece Susan. I look forward to getting out of Portland for a change of scenery, some good Texmex food (bummer I can't have a frozen margarita!) and to hang out with family. We get back Tuesday night, just in time for our second birthing class (fun stuff!) and then it's time to do some grading.
