Portland has an Urban Growth Boundary, which separates areas where houses and businesses can be built and the farm and timber areas. This system has pros and cons. The main downside is that housing prices are very high due to limited room to build. The upsides include a more vibrant city center, fewer areas of decay (since land gets reused for new development), and you are always close to farms and 'the sticks'.
This morning Nike and I headed outside the boundary to one of the many "U-Pick" farms in the area. The veggies and other berries aren't ready yet, so we picked a bunch of plump, sweet, and inexpensive strawberries which we will eat as fast as we can this week. We'd like to send out a special thanks to Sally for her Strawberry Bread recipe she gave Nike.

Yum! Sounds like a great day.
Hey, can you share that strawberry bread recipe? The season is over here but I have a bunch in the freezer.
