It was a gorgeous weekend: temperatures in the 80s and lots of sunshine! This is the ideal weather for a Central European like me ... keep it coming.
On Saturday, Dave made us a great breakfast with hashbrowns and we decided to go for a walk in Washington Park, an over 400 acre park within the city limit. So we grabbed our water bottles and jumped into the car with Haley. On the way over there, we passed a sign: "Garage Sale: Baby/Toddler" and we spontaneously decided to take a look. We got a crib for $20 and 16 pieces of baby clothes for $11. After that detour, we got to the park with a full trunk. The walk was great - Dave had picked a route that wasn't too steep because I get winded more easily these days when I walk uphill. It was a loop and Dave had found a sandwich place in a neighborhood that borders the park where we stopped for lunch (see picture). After our walk, we decided to go by the new house to make sure it still stands. The original closing was supposed to be Thursday but things are still in limbo because of the IRS lien. We have no clue when we can move in ... VERY FRUSTRATING! Well, the house still looks good but the weeds are taking over. And guess what: one of the neighbors was having a garage sale. So we meet some of our future neighbors (hopefully!) and bought two more baby things: a swing and chair for $44. We could barely fit our purchases in the car but were excited that we got such good deals.
Yesterday, I did some baking because I got rhubarb from a colleague. I used one of my mom's recipes for a rhubarb pie and rhubarb compote. In the afternoon, we went to an open house at a colleague's to celebrate her recent wedding and the new house. On the way there, we checked out a new nature park that had just opened.
A good weekend all around!
