My mom arrived on Monday. Melina is her first grandchild so she's very excited to be an "Omi"! Unfortunately, she caught a cold on the plane so we decided it would be best for her to wear a face mask when she's close to Melina (especially because we didn't know for sure it wasn't the flu).
Today, we visited Oregon Wine Country in the Willamette Valley. We drove about 1 hour southwest to McMinnville, where we had lunch at the historic Hotel Oregon. We ate in the rooftop bar - if it hadn't been so overcast, the view would've been even better. Then we visited two wineries where we tasted some of the Pinot Noirs Oregon is famous for. Despite the iffy weather, the landscape was gorgeous: yellow leafs on the grape vines, orange-purple on the blueberry plants...
Melina is over 6 weeks old now. Soon we'll have to retire some of her onesies because they're getting too small. She's been putting on quite some baby fat, a good sign that she's growing. Recenlty, she's also started to smile at us, which is absolutely amazing. We're lucky because she's a very happy baby: she hardly cries and is a good sleeper. But she does hate baths, which are the rare instances where she really screams.
