We spent Thanksgiving at a friend's house. It was a truly international affair: 4 Chinese, 1 French woman, 2 Germans and 2 Americans. We had a great time: good company, good food and a happy baby!
To mark the beginning of the holiday season, we went downtown on Friday for the lighting of the Christmas tree (not to shop!). Unfortunately, thousands of Portlanders had the same idea - it was really packed and we were too far away to hear the music. Melina slept through the whole trip. Sunday was the first advent and my mom made a beautiful advent wreath. Other than that, we are really behind with Christmas decorations compared to our neighbors - some of them had their outdoor decorations up before Thanksgiving already. It's a little early for me but that's where our family has to combine German and American traditions.
