Fried Pickles

I recently saw something on TV about fried pickles. How come I had lived in the South for several years and never had fried pickles? Last weekend, I told Dave that I'm curious to try them and then I even saw somebody with a T-shirt that said "Got Fried Pickles?" the same day. So Dave found a restaurant in Portland that serves fried pickles. After work yesterday, we went to Bernie's Southern Bistro for happy hour. Many restaurants and bars have great happy hour deals, this one included: we sampled the fried pickles, mac 'n cheese and the fried green tomato po boy (each dish was only $3!). I had pictured whole pickles battered and fried but these were slices, which I'm sure is a lot easier to eat. They were good.
