It really doesn't feel like spring yet with temperatures in the 40s and low 50s but there are some signs from nature. The camelias are really spectacular - there is a bush right in front of my office window, which makes for a fabulous view (see picture above). If you can manage to ignore the traffic noise and rainy/dreary weather, you might almost feel like you're on an exotic island.

On Sunday, we actually got to see the sun so we headed to Laurelhurst Park, where Haley was fascinated by the ducks while we admired the camelias. The photo is a bit deceptive because a cold wind made it pretty uncomfortable outside, despite the sunshine. Before the park, we had lunch at Old Wives Tales, a restaurant that I know from my interview here. Their Hungarian Mushroom Soup is super yummy.

We have camellias her in January -- they're gorgeous. By the time the Fall flowers are done the camellias bloom, and when they're through the azalias and Spring flowers start to bloom. So we have beautiful flowers year round. It helps get through the dreary winter. Yes, even this far south the winter months are dreary -- thankfully the winter weather doesn't last very long.
