We had a good weekend with lots of different activities. On Saturday morning, we went for a walk with Haley and the stroller. We got some weird looks in the park and one woman actually said: "Hey, your baby is missing!". I guess we should've put a sign on it "Dog in Training". Haley did amazingly well and wasn't freaked out walking next to the stroller. Dave always accuses me of not having enough faith in Haley. He still brings up the fact that I had serious doubts that she would ever get used to the Dremel to grind her claws (clipping her claws makes her freak out and we always had to take her to the vet for a $15 manicure). But even Dave has to admit that Haley can be very difficult. Remember how she wouldn't walk on asphalt, get in the car...!?
Anyway, after the walk, we headed to a free car seat clinic to make sure our infant car seat is installed correctly. We had to wait an hour! But it was worth the wait: Dave got a pat on the back from two of the technicians for having done a great job (they were really impressed!) and we got some valuable information. By the time we got done, it was 1:30 and we were starving. We stopped by a friend's house to pick up some moving supplies (her husband just moved out to Portland from NYC) and then we went to Hopworks, one of Portland's MANY brewpubs (we still haven't checked out all of them). We sat on the patio and had pizza. When we got home, we did some packing and Dave watched the NASCAR race in Bristol, which made him a bit homesick, I think.
That was our Saturday. Yesterday, our neighbors had invited us for breakfast (that's the waffle part of this post's title). She's very nice but he is really weird. It was fun talking to them (he's lived in this house for 25 years) and two other neighbors, a vet and an artist. Another artist was there too (she used to own the house the vet now lives in). All of them suspect that the people living in a house across from the vet are drug dealers. I'm glad we're about to move. I had no idea, didn't even know there was a house there because it's a so-called flag lot: the property is in the middle of a block and doesn't border the street (welcome to Portland, we're real estate is precious!).
