Melina heads home.

Finally time to update the blog on the big events of the week. First a little info on the delivery. Nike worked so hard! After about 35 hours of contractions, and only 3-4 hours of sleep in the last 48 hours, she had to push during the delivery for about 3 hours. The last part was very difficult as Melina was losing strength and it looked liked a C-section might be needed, but Nike put in everything she had to complete the delivery.

We all had a scary couple of minutes after delivery as Melina had meconium in the airway/lungs at birth and had to be aspirated and then resuscitated to allow her to breathe. A tough start, but she quickly recovered and is doing fantastic.

We headed home on Saturday afternoon and the transition has been pretty smooth. Melina sleeps well between feedings and is not fussy at all. Of course, this is very early so we're keeping our fingers crossed! We've already had two outings to the small park near our house and a large park with an off-leash dog run to give Haley some needed exercise.

Thanks to all of our great friends and family for your support and well wishes!
