My favorite number and an engineer's obsession

Here's a list of little tidbits from our lives:
- Yesterday was 09/09/09. Nine is my favorite number and when I was younger, I always thought how cool it would be to get married on 09/09/1999. Well, that didn't happen and yesterday didn't turn out to be a very special day either.
- A while ago, we had bought a mobile for the crib at a yard sale. It plays classical music and, we didn't know this until the other day, it's supposed to turn. Dave made it his mission to fix it, which turned out to be quite the project. I'd say his dedication bordered on obsession but he succeeded and is pretty proud of his accomplishment (me too, of course!). We paid $3 and that mobile retails for $120 (who spends that much money on a baby accessory you can only use for a couple of months!?).
- Oregon is berry country. When walking Haley, Dave discovered a patch of wild blackberries: super juicy and sweet. We picked two batches and made a crisp and a week later a blackberry pie topped with streusels. Definitely worth the stratches on our arms that we got when picking the berries.
- The unpacking continues. We're down to the boxes we didn't unpack when we moved to Portland and just stored under the house. It's almost like Christmas.
