Melina's first Christmas was, of course, very special. It was wonderful to have Ingrid here as we combined German and American Christmas traditions. For Christmas Eve we had a raclette dinner, which is a Swiss tradition with potatoes, eggs, and cheese broiled under a hot burner. In Germany presents are opened on Christmas Eve, so we opened the under-the-tree presents on Christmas eve and saved the stockings for Christmas morning. Melina got binkies and a glow-in-the-dark moon and stars for her nursery. She also got great clothes and toys from many friends and family.
We had a great time, although Leroy was missing. He's been having some problems that have landed him at the vet for a few nights over the last two weeks. We're cautiously hopeful - he's a great cat even though he has a unique talent for pissing us off occasionally. I think it is great fun for him.
As we head into the new year, we're wishing for health and happiness for all of our family and friends, and especially a full recovery for Leroy.
