After a weekend of unpacking

On Friday, our furniture was delivered. Unfortunately, they had to do a "shuttle" (I'm learning movers lingo) because our street is too narrow: we had to rent a U-Haul truck to shuttle our stuff from the big truck one block to our house. Robert, our truck driver, kept calling our street an alley because it's so narrow and in bad shape. We learned from our neighbors that it's an "illegal street" that was put in without the city's approval. The city would take care of the street now but would need to cut down some of the trees, something the people here oppose.

Over the weekend, we've made good progress unpacking our boxes (see pix below). The weather here in Portland has been absolutely gorgeous: a bit chilly in the morning but warm and sunny during the day. Thursday evening, we went downtown for First Thursday, a big ourdoor art fair.
