Polska Festival & Financial Angst

Sunday Nike and I visited the Polish Festival in North Portland. A couple of thousand people crammed into an area near the St. Stanislaus Church to eat food (perogies, plackis, and more), drink Polish and Portland beer, and listen to folk music. The accordian player was decent, but I think my Mom is better! Nike and I had the plackis, which are called Kartoffelpuffer in Germany (shredded potato pancakes). I was suprised by how many people were speaking Polish! Obviously not just a marketing gimmick for that neighborhood.

We've also been negotiating for over a week with a potential buyer for our house on Knoxville. We came down on our price to accomodate the buyer, but just when things looked good he backed out because he was suddenly suprised on what his payments would be (A good indication of how we got into this financial mess!!). He finally came back with a lower offer than the original. We have countered, but I don't think this will go through. So we wait for another offer and hope the entire US economy doesn't collapse in the meantime!!

Fingers crossed about the house! (And the economy!)
