Yesterday was Veterans Day (Happy Birthday, Kay!) and I had the day off! Most universities do not observe Veterans Day but PSU does. Portland State was founded as an extension center in 1946 to educate returning soldiers based on the GI Bill. So it makes sense for to honor veterans here.
It was a nasty day though with LOTS of wind and rain. In the evening, we discovered a leak in the ceiling. Dave thinks the water is coming in through the flue of the fireplace. I didn't sleep well because of the wind and the heavy rain continues today. When I got to work, I was soaked despite my umbrella - even some stuff in my bag got wet. I really need some waterproof pants, especially for my morning walks with Haley. Yesterday, I looked at the Columbia outlet but no luck. REI here I come.
I hear that such heavy rain is unusual, which is little comfort. The weekend is supposed to be dry to we're thinking of what we could do...

That sounds pretty bad. Get yourself some good old German ``Rohrstiefel``!!
We had a rainy day today here in Knoxville as well - no wind though :)
Like Irmtraud said, rain here too but not soo bad. But it does suck when you are out in it. I need a decent all year raincoat for when I take the bus. Let me know if you have any good suggestions for rain gear!
Hey, so what's with the naked cyclists in Portland??? You are DEFINITELY no longer living in the conservative South.
