Rob was in town for business and we went to the Holiday Ale Festival. It's on Pioneer Square downtown in several tents where local and regional breweries showcase their beer, some of it specially brewed for this occasion. They had lots of strong winter ales with funny names like "Yellow Snow IPA", "Climax Noel" and "Noggin Floggin' Barleywine". I was impressed by Dave's and Rob's distinguishing palates when they detected a hint of whiskey in the "JIM 2008". The beer is aged in bourbon barrels, we found out lateron. I refused to try the Hazel Dell's "Weihnachten Fest Bier" because of the incorrect German. Perfect case of somebody without any knowledge of German just grabbing a dictionary to translate. So I went with Laurelwood's "Weihnachtsfest" - good German, good beer. We had a blast and laughed pretty hard several times. Dave and I will be back to use the rest of our tickets.
