Day 2 started with a solid plan of action, but quickly hit a few kinks. Nike downloaded some "Books on Tape" from the Knoxville library for our drive. We tried to listen yesterday, but found that the laptop speakers were not loud enough for the car (for copyright reasons, the books have to be played on the laptop). This morning we hit a St. Louis "Best Buy" early to buy an external laptop speaker, but they were sold out, as well as the next "Best Buy" out west on I-70. I spotted one even further west right after passing the exit, so I turned around at the next exit and started heading back east ("You're obsessed" exclaimed Nike!). We did find some speakers and hit the road listening to "The Sharper the Knife, the Less You Cry", which has been an enjoyable account of a corporate manager who gives it all up to attend Le Cordon-Bleu in Paris.
At this point we were about an hour behind schedule, but we had big plans to detour into downtown Kansas City for lunch at a Whole Foods Market. After taking a few wrong turns, we find out that Google has misled us into a very tiny Wild Oats Market, which (although they have been bought out by Whole Foods) did not offer any prepared foods like we were anticipating. So we find lunch at a pizza place and start heading north to Iowa and Nebraska.
The rest of the trip was pretty uneventful as we traveled through the corn fields on our way to Grand Island Nebraska (fyi - it is neither). Tomorrow we have a short driving day (6-7 hours) to our friends Ken & Anita's cabin in Centennial Wyoming. We are heading higher in elevation and may have to break out some fleece jackets!

I think I was at a Wild Oats market in Nashville once (since bought out by whole foods). Say hi to Anita for me!
Sounds like you're doing great! Just keep rolling along!
