Portland? Yes, but where? NOW WE KNOW.

We have FINALLY found a place to live. We'll be renting a house on Texas Street (how appropriate!) in Southwest Portland. Looking for a place to rent was really frustrating: no pets, no dogs over 25 lbs (ha!), too far in the suburbs, already rented...
The location sounds great: just a block from Gabriel Park, a big park with an off-leash area, a 20-minute bus ride to campus, there are some cafes and stores within walking distance. And yes: it's less than 0.5 mile to the Lucky Labrador, a local brew pub (http://www.luckylab.com/html/story.html). Dave is excited!

Sounds nice. With a name like the "Lucky Lab", I imagine Haley will be welcome to accompany you for a plate of biscuits and a bowl of beverage.

Dave's pretty sure that dogs are welcome at the Lucky Lab. Now we just have to work on Haley's manners that she doesn't go nuts with excitement.

Thank you for including me in your moving blog. I will enjoy reading about all the experiences. Nike, I was on campus today and had to go by your office just to see how it was doing :) The department is not the same without you there. I'll miss you. But I do wish you the best at PSU! I am sure you'll like it a lot.

By the way, I used to live in Southwest Portland as well. I loved it. And the bus ride was really not bad to Campus. Just about 20 minutes for me too. I lived first on SW Beaverton Hwy and then on SW Multnomah Blvd rather close to the interstate exit. We had a Starbucks open up just then (we are talking 1993) almost next door. Daily coffee is an important issue for me.

Zsuzsi,

We are going to be only about 1/2 mile from Multnomah Village, which is supposed to have several nice little shops and Cafes! I think Nike's bus ride will be short. We'll have to wait to see for me since I'm still looking for a job. I'll probably be heading west (Beaverton or Hillsboro) while Nike is heading east to PSU.

can't believe you have a pub that close! This calls for a visit! On the other hand, they don't have fish and chips: what's up with that? Maybe by the time we make it there you will have made buddy-buddy with the owner and added it to the menu ;-)
